I first fell in love with Poppy during quarentine. I found her album I Disagree and became immediately obsessed with it.

Poppy is an American metal artist. She first got her start doing pop music, and there was like a whole storyline she heavily leaned into. The lore is that she's a cult member or works for a hire power. It's most likely revealed to be a cult. Her Youtube videos are cute but unsettling, which played into her character. She was previously very guarded about her personal life, and leaned into the Poppy character even in interviews. Nowadays, however, she's a bit more open. She pivoted to metal I believe with the I Disagree album. She's gained a following since of course, and I've seen her live!
I don't really want to go into her like, actual personal life because that seems weird as I don't know her, the Poppy the character is just so creepy to me. She's a gay icon.

I really like her because she's just weird and her vocals are soooo good. I love screamers with a higher pitched voice compared to people with deeper voices. Idk there's just something about higher voices that really amps me up! Her concert was awesome, I saw her on her They're all around us tour. I'm not much of a picture and video person at concerts (I very much support the whole "put the phones down" concert movement going on, at least in the EDM scene at this moment), and I'm not about to upload videos to youtube to show. So like, just trust me, it was awesome.

I think I like Poppy for the same reason I love Ashnikko. Femme presenting people just being absolutely fucking weird with it makes my inner child happy. I would've loved to see them when I was growing up, they probably would've helped me feel less alone when I was a weird girl. And now I'm a weird creature. So close enough I guess.

When I went to her concert, I was able to score one of those "I went to a Poppy concert and now I'm gay!" hats and its my greatest treasure.
My favorite album by her is I Disagree, with Negative Spaces being a close second. I Disagree is like metal I've never hear before. I think this was before she learned how to scream, so all of her vocals are soft spoken (except for BLOODMONEY). It's so interesting to here such a soft spoken voice while heavy guitar and drums play in the background. The entire concept is about empowerment, particularly when it comes to the music industry. It's basically a giant middle finger and a "fuck you." You can learn all about the tracks on the wiki! You gotta listen to it in the order it comes in!!! The songs are sequential.

Anyway!!! She's the greatest! She's my favorite artist period.
I'm working on gifs and things but for now here are some more pictures!!!!!!
